Collector car insurance options
I'm having trouble getting a correct Declaration from my new carrier. They've sent three Declarations with the wrong Agreed-upon Value and have really ticked me off.
What company are you using?

Re: Collector car insurance options
Thanks, John. Many of the Classic Mini guys use Hagerty. Unfortunately, @ $653 for Manny, they aren't much better than just adding him to my regular policy. Grundy is too restrictive (shows, events, parades...phsssst). I'm wide open to other possibilities.

Re: Collector car insurance options
Here is the problem with "regular" insurances. THe vehicle will carry a market value of say 20k + depending on recent sales etc.... If a collision/claim happens they will try to "TOTAL" the car at 70% of "wholesale " value. So a damage claim of $10k would "Total" it.Then we loose another Mangusta from the family. Insure them for cash value "$35-40k" ++

Re: Collector car insurance options
All too true. My bad. I should have written "...my regular insurance policy but with a declared value.", which is what I have now, whilst settling out with a specialty company. Having had a Honda-powered, AWD Classic Mini, I'm aware of the perils of "regular" insurance for a collector car.

Re: Collector car insurance options
I called my insurance agent; explained the situation & how much I felt I wanted "cash" if car were ever totaled. She contacted many different insurance agencies & got me a deal with my homeowners to cover the Qvale for approx 35K. (value I set) I choose this value figuring if I ever had to total & was gonna replace the Mangusta with another one of approx value.

Re: Collector car insurance options
I just insured mine with State Farm for $378/6 months ($756/year), standard policy, $500 deductible and $35,000 replacement value. That even included a motorcycle and a scooter. Seemed pretty reasonable to me.
