Custom Dyno Tuning vs preprogrammed tuner vs chipping
Everyone please feel free to chime in about you're thoughts on this topic: Custom Dyno Tuning vs pre-programmed tuner vs chipping First of all what kind of computer do we have in our Magusta's? For example my 04 mercury Marauder uses a ford computer designated "MAV2" That is important to know for custom tuning of the engine & fully electronic auto transmission. But now I can adjust shift points & engine parameter etc right on my labtop...
Obviously a custom Dyno tune is the best way to maximize HP & TQ #'s safely... Not the best for economy but a tune can be done for that as well.
I'm pretty sure an SCT tuner can be used to flash the Mangusta as if it were a 200-2001 SVT Cobra Mustang but I haven't heard of anyone doing so... tunes can be changed by utilizing the OBD-II port but it does take a few minutes to overwrite each time...
I have heard chipping referred to on the forum here a bit... Shipping a car is the oldest way to accomplish a "computer reprogram" It does the least for you but if you get a muli-position chip you can select performance or economy etc... very easy to change between...& quick...
What has everyone else done? What kind of dyno #'s have you put up before/after your upgrade?

Yes, a hand held tuner can be used with multiple programs or manually manipulate the fuel map/electronics. I used it on my car (179) and worked flawless.

Great. Perhaps I'll get another SCT3 like I currently use on my Marauder ort even the newer SCT LiveWire... that can also be used as a display/gauges when tied into the computer via OBD-II port... I think they even have a blue tooth adapter to connect it none wireless...
The SCT flash tuner can then be taken to a custom Dyno tune guru (w/ car) & put as a tune onto the SCT flash tuner. You can then load & unload computer programs as you wish...
Did you get a Dyno tune when you used the SCT tuner on #179? I'd be curious to see the HP/TQ #'s. Even just the #'s after loading the SCT tuners pre-loaded program for the 01 Mustang SVT Cobra

Re: Custom Dyno Tuning vs preprogrammed tuner vs chipping
I'll get a before & after Custom Dyno tune done so everyone can have that info available to them via your forum here... I typically go get my custom dyno tuning done by the legendary dyno Guru "John Lund" at Evolution Performance: http://www.evoperform.com/custom_tuning.htmHe programmed the 1st GT500 to hit 10's & then later 9's in the 1/4mile... Now he has programmed a bone stock 2011 Mustang GT w/ the new 5.0L 4V (coyote motor) into the 11's dropped it nearly a second from factory programming... He does tuning in the Philadelphia area... FYI It's about a 2.5hour drive for me...

Re: Custom Dyno Tuning vs preprogrammed tuner vs chipping
When I got my car, it came with a Diablo Predator. I had assumed there was some program already loaded, but one day I plugged it in to check for trouble codes, & it appeared that the stock program was in play because it asked if I wanted to download the performance program. So I went through the procedure to load the prepackaged tune. It seemed like it worked, but I can't really tell much difference from before.

The preloaded tunes are pretty good but nothing compares to getting your car custom tuned....
