Won't Start
I let the goose sit for too long, and now it will not start. I had it running last summer, but I guess the cold of the winter and time took it's toll. I do not think it is the fuel pump, although I am going to remove it and check. I believe that the engine is normally aspirated, so I was thinking of spraying a little starter fluid and seeing if I get a sputter. Before I do, I am going to see if I can pull codes from the computer. Anyone have other thoughts.

Re: Won't Start
My battery usually dies after few weeks of not operating the car, but I am sure you've already ruled that out. Also check the fuel Kill switch, on one occasion that was the problem for me. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Won't Start
Well finally got around to looking at my fuel issue. The ECU states a low fuel rail error, and so I think my fuel pump is gone. The car started but died if I reve the engine, classic fuel starvation. I am thinking replacing the fuel filter, since I live in the world with oxygenated fuel (Ethanol nightmares) to see if that solves the issue. If I need to replace the fuel pump, it looks strait forward, but has anyone had to use the "Ford Fuel Line tool" to disconnect the fuel lines? Also, it looks like there are a couple of options for fuel pumps if you cross reference the "Cobra" mustangs. This includes a high performance version, but at 350 bucks it should be really nice.
Any advice? Thanks We.

Re: Won't Start
Stay with a standard 2000-2001 Cobra pump...readily available in the aftermarket.

Re: Won't Start
I am having to replace my fuel pump and just wandering if it’s basically the same as changing out one on a mustang or is there something else to consider on the Mangusta?
Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Won't Start
gareterag, Did you swap out the pump? I am currious as I did mine last weekend, and without a battery hard to see if it solved the low fuel rail issue.
Thanks W

Re: Won't Start
Sorry been so long to get back to you but we literally just had nice enough weather to get working on the Mangusta and we changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump and now it works like a charm. We purchased a 2000 cobra fuel pump for around $150 at autozone and everything fit perfectly..
Easy to get to as well. It’s just under carpet in trunk.... thanks goes to John #179 for helping me with this!
