Re: Replacement Windshield
John, the "current" windshield supplier said that the item they supply doesn't have the black dots, which kind of bummed me out. I thought it would be best to use the same manufacturer as made the original item, and to make it absolutely identical to the originals, if such a thing is still possible. Just my thoughts!
When these Kickstarter things first began, I was skeptical, but it's now part of the way things are (often) done. You have different levels of contribution/participation -- low levels are little trinkets like Qvale T-Shirts, copies of Mr. Qvale's book, etc., at the top contribution you might get "1 Windshield" and there could even be "2" and "3" Windshield Levels. The "Kickstarter Goal" would be enough money for you to get a production run of the very best windshields possible, and the people who contributed get trinkets, Windshield(s), or both, depending on how much money they put in.
This Kickstarter method seems better to me than getting a bunch of promises from people ("Oh yes, I would buy one...") and then when the time comes, they've sold the car or gone broke or changed their minds or what-have-you. The beauty of the Kickstarter thing is that, providing the Kickstarter goal is reached, you'd have the money you need IN HAND to go to the windshield people and get the very best windshields possible (re-) made.
