7300 miles to Alaska
If anyone is curious I drove my Qvale to Alaska and back from San Francisco over the last few weeks. The car performed quite well. I only had one problem. The oil pan drain plug fell out 50 miles south of Beaver Creek, Yukon when I hit a frost heave. I pulled to the side of the road and watch the oil draining. I immediately tried to plug the hole with a bar of soap, but my arm was too short to reach. I called AAA, but they said their nearest tow truck was over 8 hours away and I was on my own. I couldn't find the drain plug, so I hitched to Beaver Creek, and spent the night. The next morning, I went to Far West to get towed. Carl there is good. He knew how to tow the car and found a Nissan Pathfinder drain plug in a junk yard that fit. So much for my $450 unscheduled oil change.

The underside of the car took more of a beating when I drove to Grand Canyon West, but this is a tough car with lots of steel underneath.
